Vantrix proven and patented technology to address the largest and most costly mobile network challenge

Montreal, Canada and Barcelona, Spain — February 15, 2010 —Vantrix, the global leader of mobile video optimization and delivery solutions, today announced the commercial availability of Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer, the premier media optimization and bandwidth management solution for mobile video.

Over the last several months, reports from industry analysts and telecom equipment vendors have highlighted an impending threat on mobile networks. Mobile data traffic is to grow exponentially over the next years and video is the main source of this surge. While most operators will see a moderate increase in their revenues from data (less than 50%), they will need to manage 50 to 100 times more video traffic on their network.

Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer lets network operators capitalize on the growing “mobile data tsunami” by providing up to 50% savings of CAPEX and OPEX for data delivery.

“There are inherent inefficiencies in mobile video delivery today,” said Patrick Lopez, Chief Marketing Officer, Vantrix. “Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer stops the waste incurred by operators in delivering videos to mobiles, tablets and laptops and can effectively double the capacity of an existing network infrastructure.”

Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer provides unique functionalities and mechanisms for the transcoding, transrating, caching and streaming of video over mobile networks. This technology is a core competency developed and patented by Vantrix over the last 5 years and has been implemented commercially in various mobile video deployments.

Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer is part of a suite of products offered to converged operators; key features include:

  • Savings of between 30 – 70% of cost of delivering mobile video
  • The ability to double the capacity of an existing network infrastructure
  • Allows better Quality of Experience
  • Addresses on deck and off deck content for mobile, tablets and laptops

“Vantrix patented technology enable us to reduce the cost and size of video, while retaining the best perceived quality,” continued Lopez. “This data tsunami is not going to go away- in fact it is growing daily and no network can contemplate such growth in a profitable manner without Vantrix Bandwidth Optimizer”

Version 8.0 addresses the exponential growth in mobile video by providing patented technology for handsets, smartphones, iPhones and laptop video optimization

Montreal, Canada, -December 8, 2009 - Vantrix, the global leader of mobile video optimization and delivery solutions, announced today the launch of the latest version of Media Broadcaster, release 8.0, with the world's first Dynamic Bit Rate Adaptation (DBRA) for the Apple iPhone.

Vantrix Media Broadcaster is the leading end-to-end solution for delivering optimized video streams to any end device - mobile, Web (PC), or digital TV. The solution captures, ingests, encodes, adapts, and delivers any video content regardless of format, network, and device. The 8.0 version responds directly to the explosive growth of the iPhone and other smartphones: it is unique in the market in that it delivers the same rich multimedia content services such as mobile TV, video on demand, user-generated content, video share and many other services to the iPhone as it does to any other device.

Media Broadcaster ensures content adaptation and optimization from any source to any endpoint, including the iPhone. This means that operators do not require different solutions for different mobile devices with varying screen sizes and protocols; Media Broadcaster overcomes these obstacles related to device and network fragmentation. iPhone video delivery is now enhanced with Vantrix Media Broadcaster 8.0  thanks to its patented DBRA mechanism. DBRA allows the forcing of the bit rate at which the iPhone connects to a video feed, therefore providing the best user experience for the available network capacity and at the same time substantially reducing cost of video delivery.

Media Broadcaster helps operators cope with the exponential growth of video usage by adjusting video bit rates dynamically in real time, thereby delivering the best perceived user experience while using the minimum network bandwidth possible. The added benefit is operators do not need to purchase additional hardware specifically to support iPhone since Media Broadcaster is a one-stop solution offering all the adaptive streaming capabilities and services for any device, on any protocol, for any media format on any network.

"We are excited to bring this latest version of Media Broadcaster to market," said Patrick Lopez, Chief Marketing Officer, Vantrix. "The release of Media Broadcaster 8.0 illustrates the Vantrix competitive advantage in mobile video. We enable our customers to meet the overwhelming growth in video by providing the best user experience, in the most cost effective manner."

The highly competitive annual award honors products and services that address the rapidly changing needs of technology end-users. Media Profiler rose to the top among nominations from all over the world to take top spot for software in the "Best in Convergence" category.

Vantrix Media Profiler helps drive consumer adoption of premium multimedia services such as mobile and web TV, user generated content and video-on-demand, while helping operators overcome the challenge of managing multimedia services across multiple screens.
